I was getting depressed trying to find employment in Ottawa. In former times, people would first teach in the North. I accepted a posting in The Pas. What a mistake! I was warned. I left Kingston at the start of school, so I was a day late when I arrived. The map above omits a large river - the Saskatchewan. It should be shown passing parallel to Edwards Avenue and flowing under the highway marked "1 St W" which is actually a bridge on Highway 10. North of the river is the Reservation. |

The air was exceptionally clean except when blowing from the North. Daylight was 24 hours on 21 June bt nighttime was the same 24 hours on 21 December. I got out a little bit during the better weather. Spring didn't happen until May. JB provided this movie, taken much later, about 1980. I was vastly relieved to move to Ottawa in search of work, after a quick vacation in Calgary, of all places. |
