I was getting depressed trying to find employment in Ottawa. In former times, people would first teach in the North. I accepted a posting in The Pas. What a mistake! I was warned. I left Kingston at the start of school, so I was a day late when I arrived. The map above omits a large river - the Saskatchewan. It should be shown passing parallel to Edwards Avenue and flowing under the highway marked "1 St W" which is actually a bridge on Highway 10. North of the river is the Reservation.
The air was exceptionally clean except when blowing from the North. Daylight was 24 hours on 21 June bt nighttime was the same 24 hours on 21 December. I got out a little bit during the better weather. Spring didn't happen until May. JB provided this movie, taken much later, about 1980. I was vastly relieved to move to Ottawa in search of work, after a quick vacation in Calgary, of all places.
