Étienne was born in 1622 in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime (prev. in Aunis), Poitou-Charentes, France , the son of unknown parents.
His wife was Périnne Peineau-Poyneau, who he married in 1640 in Église Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes (Compnes, Coigne, Cognes, Cognehors), De La Rochelle, Aunis . Their only known child was Nicolas (1642-1714).
