Asilomar Conference Centre is located in Asilomar State Park, on the Pacific Ocean at Pacific Grove, California. It consists of a number of multiple cabin units and meeting halls with a central dining complex and a separate booking/administration Centre. The grounds consist of protected dunes with boardwalks, one leading to Asilomar State Beach.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has many exhibits of life in tidal waters. The strong tides are emulated by machinery to recreate the dramatic surges of the local ocean rim. The surrounding town of Pacific Grove is quiet and laid-back. The Spring growth is weeks ahead of here in Vancouver. Of course some of the plants seen here, such as lemon trees (in protected spots) won't grow yet in Vancouver.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is as lovely as the name. Of course it is tourist-oriented but it is plainly obvious why someone like Clint Eastwood would become mayor in order to forestall the rapacious developers, among other purposes. Wouldn't you just love to live in a two-million dollar condo on the main street? It's a damn shame some well-known person with some backbone hadn't become mayor of White Rock to stonewall the corrupt politicians and greedy developers before it was forever too late.
