Leaving 34 Woodfield Rd, I moved into the downstairs of a duplex belonging to a friend of Judy Girard, Pam Vair, and her husband, Bill Halley. I was allowed much of the basement to set up for my plants as well as space in the backyard and front for gardening.

Morgan took off the first time I let her out of the suite and stayed away for two days. I was very distraught, going all the way back to the old place and in between. Neighbours helped look for her. She showed up in the late evening, face bloody and a canine tooth loose. There were no other marks so the large, vicious Siamese Tom next door was not a suspect.

Margaret Saltzmann and her family lived two doors South. They were quite friendly and we spent much time talking.

The winter was much too chilly in the downstairs suite and there was a severe lack of light even in high summer. I gave notice after a year and moved to 49 Willow Avenue.
