Personal and Family Information

Charles was born on 12 MAR 1270 in Vincennes, the son of Philippe III Capet and Isabelle de Aragón.

He died on 16 DEC 1325 in le Perray (Saint-Pierre-du-Perray), Saint-Germain-lès-Corbeil, Évry, Île-de-France, France .

He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was Marguerite d'Anjou, who he married on 16 AUG 1290 in Corbeil, Sompuis, Vitry-le-François, Marne, Champagne-Ardenne, France . Their six known children were Isabelle (1292-1309), Philippe VI (1293-1350), Jeanne (1294-1342), Marguerite (1295-1342), Catherine (1299-1300) and Charles II (1297-1346).

His second wife was Catherine I de Courtenay, who he married on 28 FEB 1301 in Saint-Cloud. Their four known children were Jean (1302-1308), Catherine II (1303-1346), Jeanne (c1304-1363) and Isabelle (1306-1349).

His third wife was Mahaut de Châtillon-sur-Marne, who he married in JUL 1308. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Louis (1309-1328), Marie (1311-1331), Isabelle (1313-1383) and Blanche Marguerite (1317-1348).
