Jean was born in 1253 in Bruxelles (Brüssel, Brussels), Belgique , the son of Henri III de Brabant and Adélaïde de Bourgogne.

He died on 03 MAY 1294 in Louvain (Leuven, Lovin, Löwen), Brabant, Belgique .
