Juan was born in 1234 in Carrión de los Condes, the son of saint Fernando III de Castilla and Elisabeth von Hohenstaufen.

He died on 25 DEC 1283 in Peñafiel.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Constança de Aragón, who he married in 1260 in Soria, Soria prov., Castilla y León, España . They had no known children.

His second wife was Béatrice de Savoie, who he married in 1274. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Juan Manuel (1282-1348).
