Philippe was born in 1268 in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne, the son of Philippe III Capet and Isabelle de Aragón.

He died on 29 NOV 1314 in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne.

His wife was Jeanne I de Navarre, who he married on 16 AUG 1284 in Notre-Dame de Paris. Their seven known children were Marguerite (1288-c1294), Louis (1289-1316), Blanche (1290-c1294), Philippe (1291-1322), Charles IV (1294-1328), Isabelle (1292-1358) and Robert (1297-1308).
