Philippe was born in 1293, the son of Charles I de Valois and Marguerite d'Anjou. The place is not known.

He died on 22 AUG 1350 in Nogent-le-Roi ou Coulombs.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Jeanne de Bourgogne, who he married in JUL 1313. The place has not been found. Their seven known children were Jean II (1319-1364), Marie (1326-1333), Louis (1328-?), Louis (1330-1330), Jean (1332-1333), Philippe (1336-1375) and Jeanne (1337-?).

His second wife was Blanche de Navarre, who he married on 29 JAN 1350 in Brie-Comte-Robert. They had no known children.
