Jean was the son of Jean-Baptiste Dupras-Pratte and Madeleine St-Pierre dit Champoux. The date and place of his birth have not been found.
His wife was Marie-Louise Desjarlais, who he married on 23 JAN 1792 in Louiseville (aussi Rivière-du-Loup-en-Haut), Maskinongé, Mauricie QC . They had no known children.
