Dagobert was born about 0652 in Austrasia (Austrasie, East Kingdom), the son of saint Sigisbert III Mérovingien and Immichilde de Burgondie.

He died on 23 DEC 0679 in Stenay, Verdun, Meuse, Lorraine, France .

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Mechtilde, who he married in 0666 in Ireland. Their three known children were Lothair IV (?-?), Adèle (c0670-?) and Lampade (c0671-?).

His second wife was Gisèle de Rhedæ, who he married in 0673. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Sigisbert IV (0676-0758).

After his father's death in 656 Dagobert II was exiled to Ireland by the Mayor-of-the-Palace Grimoald. and through the cooperation of the bishops of Poitiers and Didon. He was recalled as King of Austrasie in 674 and fought Thierri III, King of Neustrie.
