Hugues was born about 1039, the son of Hugues V de Lusignan and Almodis de la Marche. The place is not known.

He died in 1102 in Ramallah (now in West Bank, Palestine) .

His wife was Ildéarde de Thouars, who he married in 1065. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Hugues VII (1096-1151), Yolande (1080-1134), Rorgon (?-?) and Mahaud (c1090-?).
