Personal and Family Information

Stepan was born about 1223 in Raška (a region in south-central Serbia, Kosovo and northern Montenegro), the son of unknown parents.

He died on 01 MAY 1277 in Hum (Zachlumia, Zahumlje), located in the modern-day regions of Herzegovina and southern Dalmatia.

His wife was sainte Hélène d'Anjou, who he married in ABT 1250. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Stepan Uroš Dragutin (?-1316) and saint Stepan II Uroš Milutin (c1253-1321).
