Rhun was born in 1278 in Cibwr, Senghennydd, Glamorganshire, Cymru, the son of unknown parents.
He died about 1340. The place is not known.
His wife was Joan verch Aron. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Crissly verch Rhun (1329-1358), Mallt verch Rhun (1338-1384) and Nest verch Rhun (c1338-?).
