Marie was born in 1661, the daughter of Jean Cloutier and Marie Martin dit l'Écossois. The place is not known.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Charles Fortin, who she married on 11 NOV 1681 in Château-Richer, la Côte-de-Beaupré QC . Their six known children were Geneviève (1686-1763), Jean-Baptiste (1701-?), Joseph (1703-1733), Anne (1688-1750), Julien (1697-1749) and Louis (1690-1749).

Her second husband was Nicolas Thibault. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Louis (1682-1758).
