Ioannes was born in 1128, the son of Andronikos Komnenos and Eirene Rhodocanakis. The place is not known.
He died after 17 SEP 1176 in battle of Myriokephalon .
His wife was Maria Taronitissa. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Alexios (?-1187), Maria (1154-<1217), Theodora (?-?) and Eirene (?-?).
