Geoffroy was born about 1226, the son of Simon I de Joinville and Béatrix de Bourgogne-Comte. The place is not known.

He died before 21 OCT 1314 in Trim castle (Caisleán Bhaile Atha Troim), Trim, co. Meath, Eire .

His wife was Mahaut de Lacy, who he married on BEF 8 AUG 1252. The place has not been found. Their nine known children were Pierre (c1256-1292), Jeanne (c1266->1297), William (?-<1309), Gautier (?-c1303), Nicolas (?-<1336), Katherine (?->1315), Geoffroi (?-1283), Simon (c1264->1335) and Jean I (?->1326).
