William was born in 1384 in Lochleven castle, Kinross, Perthshire, Scotland, the son of sir Henry Douglas and Margery Stewart.
He died in 1421 in Beaugé.
His wife was Margery Lindsay. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Christian (c1395->1465).
