Godske was born about 1480 in Westensee, Schleswig-Holstein, the son of Markvard von Ahlefeldt and Margarethe Anna Rathlou.

He died about 1545. The place is not known.

His wife was Margarete Sehested. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their eight known children were Elisabeth Godskedatter (?->1590), Anna (c1515-1559), Jørgen (?-1549), Helvig (?-1586), Johan (?->1557), Markvard (<1521-<1557), Philip (1528-1580) and Catharine (?->1569).
