Bernart was the son of Jan z Vrbna and Dorota Rudzká z Rudz. The date and place of his birth have not been found.

He died on 28 DEC 1529 in Velké Heraltice (Groß-Herrlitz).

His wife was Kateřina Holická ze Šternberka, who he married in 1490. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Albrecht (?-<1542), Štěpán (c1490-1567), Jan (c1510-1559), Hynek (?-c1548) and Mikuláš (?->1514).
