Joan was born about 1356, the daughter of sir John de Botetourt and Catherine de Wayland. The place is not known.

She died in 1428 in Mendlesham, Hartismere, Suffolk, England.

Her husband was sir John Knyvett, who she married in BEF 1377. The place has not been found. Their four known children were sir John (<1380-1445), Elizabeth (c1378-1379), Margaret (c1395-1467) and Catherine (?-?).
