Elizabeth was born in 1432 in Nettlestead, Bosmere, Suffolk, England, the daughter of sir Roger Wentworth and Margery le Despenser.
Her husband was sir John Calthorpe. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were sir Philip (c1464-1535), Anne (c1466-?), Agnes (c1468-?), Christopher (c1462-1547) and Richard (1468-1554).
