Lewis was born about 1580 in Cocayne, Hatley, Bedfordshire, England, the son of John Cokayne and Elizabeth Stacy.
He died before 1663. The place is not known.
His wife was Ursula Pell, who he married on 10 OCT 1602 in Dimbleby, Lincolnshire, England. Their seven known children were John (1603-?), Elizabeth (c1604-?), Mary (c1605-?), Ann (c1608-1627), Richard (c1616-?), Thomas (1618-1679) and Dorothy (c1620-?).
