He died in 1440/41 in Huntley castle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
His wife was Elizabeth Gordon. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Alexander (c1409-1470), William (?-1452), Henry (?-1452), Elizabeth (?-?) and Katherine (c1412-?).
