His wife was Heilwig van Bronckhorst, who he married in 1289. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Ermengard (c1288-1326), Gerhard III (c1293-1340), Adelheid (c1295-<1350), Elisabeth (1300-<1340) and Giselbrecht (?-1345).
