Rorich was born in 1306, the son of Hermann III von Rennenberg but his mother is unknown. The place is not known.

His wife was Nesa von Isenburg-Grenzau. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Wilhelm I (<1374->1409) and Hermann V (<1514-?).
