Maud was born about 1276 in Burnatty castle, Thomond, Co. Clare, Eire, the daughter of sir Thomas de Clare and Julian FitzMaurice FitzGerald.
She died in 1326/27 in Clifford Castle, Herefordshire, England .
She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Robert de Clifford. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Roger (1299/00-1322), Robert III (1305-1344), Idoine (?-1365) and Margaret (?-1382).
Her second husband was sir Robert de Welles, who she married in AFT 1314. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Cecily (1310-1387).
