Llewellyn was born about 1270 in Gwynnionith, Deheubarth, Cymru, the son of Owain ap Maredudd and Angharad verch Owain.

He died in 1309. The place is not known.

He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was NN de Vale. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Thomas ap Llewellyn (c1300-1343) and Isabel verch Llywelyn (c1242-?).

His second wife was Eléanor de Bar. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. They had no known children.

His third wife was Gwanas verch Thomas, who he married in ABT 1275. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Joan verch Llywelyn (c1278-?).
