Raoul was born about 1317 in Guînes, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France , the son of Guillaume I de Coucy and Isabeau de Châtillon-sur-Marne.

He died after 1389 in Crécy-en-Ponthieu .

His wife was Jeanne d'Harcourt, who he married on BEF 24 MAR 1366. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Marguerite (c1370-?), Blanche (c1370-1437), Enguerrand (?->1392), Raoul (?-1424) and Guillaume (?-?).
