Margaret was born about 1368 in Ardrossan, Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of Robert Maxwell and Janet Forrester.
She died in 1443 in Eglinton castle, Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Her husband was sir John Montgomerie. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Joanna (>1380-<1469).
