Maurice was born in 1276 in Drumsargard, Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of sir John de Moravia and Mary of Strathearn.

He died on 17 OCT 1346 in battle of Neville's Cross, Durham, England .

His wife was Joanna de Menteith, who he married on AFT 11 JUL 1339. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Joanna (c1339-c1409).
