Duncan was born about 1465 in Kilchurn Castle, Glenorchy, Argyllshire, Scotland, the son of sir Colin McIphryar Campbell and Janet Stewart.

He died on 09 SEP 1513 in Flodden, battle of, Battle of Branxton (Brainston Moor), Branxton, Northumberland, England .

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Margaret Douglas, who he married in ABT 1479. The place has not been found. Their four known children were sir Colin (1481-1523), Elizabeth (c1483-?), Archibald (c1485-1552) and Patrick (c1487-1507).

His second wife was Margaret Moncreiffe. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Catherine (c1498-1577), John (c1509-?) and Annabella (?-?).
