Robert was born about 1447 in Etal, Northumberland, England, the son of sir Robert Manners and Jenetta de Ogle.
He died in 1495. The place is not known.
His wife was Eleanor de Ros. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were George (c1470-1513), Elizabeth (c1480-c1535) and Cicely (c1460-?).
