He died on 07 JUL 1686 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Margarethe Dorothea von Rantzau, who he married in BEF 1659. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Christiane (1659-1695), Dorothea Frederikke (1660-1698), Frederik (1662-1708) and Christian (1663-1666).
His second wife was Maria Elisabeth von Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hartenburg, who he married on 1 DEC 1668 in Emichsburg. Their three known children were Carl (1670-1722), Charlotte Sibylle (1672-1716) and Sophie Amalie (1675-1741).
