Matilda was born about 1354 in Holbroke, Somersetshire, England, the daughter of sir Edmund Hussey but her mother is unknown.
Her husband was Philip de la Mare. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Eleanor (c1373-1413), Mary (1384-?) and Elias (c1380-?).
