Eleanor was born about 1346 in Echingham, East Sussex, England, the daughter of sir John VII Maltravers but her mother is unknown.

She died on 10 JAN 1405 in West Sussex, England.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was John d'Arundel, who she married on 17 FEB 1359. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Ranulph (c1359-c1408), John (1364-1390), Joan (c1366-1404), sir William KG (c1369-c1400), Thomas (?-?) and Henry (c1371-?).

Her second husband was Reynold de Cobham, who she married on 9 AUG 1380. The place has not been found. Their five known children were sir Reginald (1381-1446), John (?-?), Thomas (?-?), Elizabeth (?-?) and Margaret (?-?).
