He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Christine von Hessen-Darmstadt, who he married on 5 MAY 1595 in Darmstadt, , , Germany. They had no known children.
His second wife was Johanna Henriëtte zu Oettingen-Oettingen, who he married on 18 DEC 1597 in Heidenheim. Their five known children were Georg Gottfried (1599-1600), Friedrich Otto (1601-1601), Anna Maria (1602-1603), Anna Maria (1603-c1662) and Georg (1605-1609).
