Richard was born in 1468 in Isenhampstead Chenies, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, the son of sir Henry Neville and Joan Bourchier.

He died about 28 DEC 1530 in Snape Hall, Bedale, North Yorkshire, England.

His wife was Anne Stafford, who he married in ABT 1490. The place has not been found. Their fifteen known children were John (1493-1543), Margaret (1494-1532), Dorothy (1496-1532), William (1497-c1545), Katherine (1498-?), Elizabeth (1500-?), Susannah (1501-c1560), sir Thomas (1502-1544), Joan (1503-?), Humphrey (1505-?), George (1505-?), Marmaduke (1506-1544), George (1509-c1567), Christopher (1511-?) and Christopher (1513-?).
